Angela has created, developed, and facilitated undergraduate and graduate courses as well as community-based workshops, national conferences, and small group retreats. In 2024, she co-created and co-facilitated an empowering and transformative retreat for the Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies programs in Michigan. This retreat provided a unique opportunity for department chairs, directors, and faculty to engage in dialogue across institutions types. This retreat specifically aimed to help leaders in the field build coalitions and lead their departments and programs more thoughtfully, inspiring and equipping them with the tools to effect positive change in their communities.
Angela has significant experience in developing others and executive coaching through various impactful programs. She created and facilitated the 2023 and 2024 Future Faculty Fellows cohort, connecting future and junior women-aligned faculty with mentors and workshops to better prepare them for roles at colleges and universities. Angela's coaching approach involves working with individuals to articulate goals, develop action plans, and enhance their performance through emotional and social intelligence. She has also coached women faculty and staff at all academic ranks helping coaches build confidence, understand diverse leadership needs, and become effective change agents within higher education.
Angela has also been sought after for her expertise in conducting external reviews for grants and academic departments. Notably, she served on a team to conduct an external review of the Division of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at North Carolina State University, with a specific focus on identity centers. This role involved evaluating the division's strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities, and providing actionable recommendations to enhance its effectiveness. Angela's experience in this capacity underscores her ability to critically assess and contribute to the continuous improvement of academic and administrative units, ensuring they meet their goals and foster inclusive environments.
